5. Dirty Harry
When he’s not wearing ponchos or talking to chairs, Clint Eastwood can be found in Kezar Stadium shooting serial killers in the leg. Get that man a physio.
In the mind-bogglingly good Days of Future Past (and of course, its trailer), Michael Fassbender’s Magneto levitates a football stadium. Why? Because he can.
Talking of superhero trailers, Christopher Nolan’s final Batman film features this brilliant sequence, culminating in Tom Hardy announcing something inaudible about a bomb.
2. Akira
This animé classic stages its showdown in Tokyo’s Olympic stadium in the year 2019. Coincidentally, Tokyo is actually hosting the games in 2020. Let’s hope no one gets crushed to death by protoplasmic bodily mutation.
The centrepiece of this Argentine thriller is a famous chase through a football stadium, captured in an impressively elaborate single take. It’s the best thing to happen in a stadium since The Clash: Live at Shea Stadium.
So what are your favourite stadium scenes? And don’t say The Fan.
