F*** Marry Kill gives Champagne Problems a run for its money as the worst title of 2025, not least because it is displayed simply as F Marry Kill, which sounds like the drag alter ego of F. Murray Abraham.

The comedy/thriller follows Eva (Lucy Hale) on a series of dates while the ‘Swipe Right Killer’ is out there murdering women they meet on dating apps. For most of the film the serial killer subplot serves as little more than background noise to Eva’s obnoxious dates, with constant commentary from her equally obnoxious friends who discuss her sex life in a level of detail that would make Lena Dunham cringe.
This BuzzFeed-produced movie is deeply misogynistic, portraying the women as either unhappy in relationships or psychotic without them, and shaming (or killing) them for being single for more than a few months. Most of the characters are women and it still somehow fails the Bechdel test, while the way they talk about and to men would be unbroadcastable if their genders were swapped. It is also quite racist in having one black guy (Brendan Morgan) that Eva openly admits to be using for sex. This man owns a bar, is emotionally available and sweet towards Eva, and is the only suitor with whom she has chemistry, yet she laughs off the idea that they could be in a relationship, the subtext very much being because he is black.
Eva herself is another Lucy Hale character whose personality quirks come across as developmental difficulties (see also The Hating Game), and the plot hinges on her making a series of baffling decisions, including taking a bath at a stranger’s house. Meanwhile the conceit where the titular game is applied to her dates doesn’t even work because ‘kill’ is used to mean they might be a serial killer. Highly offensive and deeply stupid, F Marry Kill‘s on-screen title is a marker of its quality: no stars.
